Here's a great idea I picked up from other conference attendees and this is useful no matter what conference you are attending. There are usually LOTS of vendor booths where you can enter a drawing, get a free gift, or leave information for future contacts and so on. It can be a real pain to stand there and fill out forms.
INSTEAD - Make labels ahead of time with your contact info on it and then you can just slap it on the vendor's form and you're good to go. I just took my business card (which I make and print myself anyway) and adapted it to fit onto a 1 1/3" x 4" label and printed several sheets. I also printed up some regular business cards to take along as well.

Great idea Lori! I am going to do the same!
Oh, I have a question for you experienced conference go-ers:
Do you recommend carrying a shoulder bag to the sessions & exhibit hall? Do you get a lot of stuff to carry? What is the best way to handle all the information AND take notes!
Second, do you think you will be blogging on here during the conference?
Donna, they will be giving you a totebag when you sign in at registration, which is generally a pretty nice one and roomy enough for lots of stuff. I usually carry that and then empty it each night and start fresh each day. Often vendors also have plastic bags and such. You can end up getting LOTS of stuff. For notetaking, I usually use my Palm. I'm thinking about taking my Palm keyboard to make it faster.
Probably Ted won't need to read the rest of this! :-)
For a purse, sometimes I just put a few things in the totebag and don't carry a purse too. This year I bought a small purse with a long strap so that I can put the strap on cross ways. Trying to manage a purse and the totebag on one shoulder makes me get tired and stiff-necked.
I forgot to answer your other question. I'm going to take my laptop and try to do a little blogging during the conference, depending on whether my hotel has free wireless access. Sometimes they have wireless access for free at the conference as well. They do have email stations at various locations throughout the conference and sometimes I go a little early or stay a little late to hit one of those when the crowd is smaller.
Thanks Lori - that is exactly the information I was looking for. I don't know if my hotel has free internet or not either. I hope it does!
